Prebiotic Oral Care Compositions with Amino Acids

• US Patent No.10,159,640 B2 (Hans Stettler, Wim Teughels, Marc Quirynen and Nico Boon); Colgate-Palmolive Company has patented an oral care composition for contacting the oral cavity comprising a dipeptide selected from: Ser-Asn; Met-Pro; and Phe-Glu, and at least on additional oral care ingredient selected from anticaries agents, anticalculus or tartar control agents. The composition comprises an amount of dipeptide effective for selectively promoting growth, metabolic activity or colonization of bacteria that have beneficial effects on oral health, relative to growth, metabolic activity or colonization of pathogenic oral bacteria, and selectively promoting biofilm formation by bacteria that have beneficial effects on oral health, relative to biofilm formation by pathogenic oral bacteria.
